News Indice ICT & Management organizes seminar on SMART CITIESThe world population keeps growing every day and a great part of it is moving to the cities, making them even more populated. A planet that is more urban needs to be smarter. It is needed to design new strategies to make cities more efficient. Therefore, Indice ICT & Management organized, with the Municipality of Ourém, sponsored by ANMP – National Association of Portuguese Municipalities, on 17th June, Wednesday, in Fátima, the seminar SMART Municipality – Strategy for Smart Growth. The seminar counted with 70 participants and 11 speakers who debated strategies and solutions to make cities smarter, presenting measures, case studies and how to fund projects under this regard. Filipe Brízida, Technical Director at Indice ICT & Management, introduced the first panel with the Smart Municipality Project, developed by Indice Team aiming to offer solutions to municipalities for a smarter and sustainable growth. In the first part were presented several tools in the area of new technologies of information and communication that can be applied to make the municipality more technological. Jorge Rodriguez, energy consultant at Indice ICT & Management demonstrated solutions of energy efficiency to reduce costs and wastes in the energy area. The second part counted with the exposition of several case studies on projects already implemented in some municipalities across the country, including projects for urban rehabilitation, mobility, energy efficiency and for management of parking lots and traffic. The participants still had the opportunity to learn more about the funding instruments regarding Portugal 2020 available for Smart Cities projects, a topic presented by Luís Machado, representative of CCDR of Lisbon and Vale do Tejo.
